Custom home developer and biophilic-design principal continuing Bob Rummer's mid-century modern legacy through Rummer Development. New construction and non-toxic renovations across the US Market, based in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon).
Aubrey McCormick is the founder and CEO of Rummer Development, the only studio authorized to continue the mid-century modern legacy of Robert "Bob" Rummer through a healthy building lens.
Bob built more than 750 homes across Oregon and Washington beginning in the 1950s, each one a study in what architecture can do for the way people live, post-and-beam structure, walls of glass, central atriums, and a seamless connection to the outdoors that anticipated everything the wellness design movement would later prove. At his 97th birthday in June 2024, he publicly passed the work to Aubrey alongside Terry Gilson. He passed in January 2025.
Aubrey holds an MBA in Sustainable Management from Presidio Graduate School and brings six years of biophilic design practice to a building standard rooted in indoor air quality, non-toxic materials, circadian lighting, and the environmental conditions that support long-term human health. Her work connects what Bob understood intuitively about the relationship between a home and the people living in it to the science and standards the healthy building field has since made measurable.
In her own words: "It is no longer about Bob's vision. It is about my vision, with Bob's blessing."

Rummer Development pairs 70 years of Pacific Northwest mid-century modern lineage with a modern building-science stack. Every project is scoped for indoor air quality, low-VOC and non-toxic material selection, and durability against a rapidly changing climate — without giving up the low-slung rooflines, timber ceilings, and generous glazing that made the original Rummers famous.
Rummer Lineage, Authorized
Bob Rummer's public succession to Aubrey McCormick — announced at his 97th birthday and reported in OregonLive, Portland Monthly, Eichler Network, and Restore Oregon — makes Rummer Development the acknowledged continuation of the original Rummer program.
Biophilic by Default
Daylight, natural materials, indoor plantings, and access to outdoor space are treated as structural design decisions rather than styling choices. Aubrey's design background sets the palette; the build team executes.
Non-Toxic Material Palette
Every specification is filtered for VOCs, formaldehyde, PFAS, and other durable irritants. Finishes, adhesives, insulation, and mechanicals are chosen for a healthy building envelope from framing through move-in.
Three-Market Program
Work in Portland, Austin, and Nashville lets the studio bring PNW building science to hotter, more humid climates — and lets Southern clients tap Pacific Northwest craftsmanship.
