We accomplish this by providing professional networking, educational resources, industry standards, strategic partnerships, business development opportunities, and trusted guidance that supports both our members and the communities they serve.
Our Story
The Healthy Building Alliance was created from decades of combined experience in construction, building science, building biology, environmental consulting, healthy home design, and business development.
Throughout these experiences, the founders consistently observed a common challenge within the healthy building industry. Builders often lacked access to environmental specialists. Environmental professionals were rarely integrated into the design and construction process. Architects, engineers, physicians, designers, manufacturers, and homeowners frequently worked independently, limiting opportunities for collaboration and innovation.
As a result, valuable knowledge remained fragmented across multiple industries rather than being shared for the benefit of professionals and the communities they serve.
The Healthy Building Alliance was established to change that. Rather than creating another isolated organization, HBA was designed to become a collaborative ecosystem where professionals from multiple disciplines can connect, learn from one another, develop trusted relationships, and collectively advance the healthy building movement.
Our long-term vision extends beyond membership. We are building an organization that promotes education, professional development, technical excellence, consumer confidence, and industry leadership while helping create healthier homes, healthier buildings, and healthier communities.

Brian Johnson is the Founder and Visionary of the Healthy Building Alliance. A general contractor, triple-certified building biologist, and human-optimization specialist, he is leading a new era of healthy-home design. As the founder and CEO of SENERGY360, Brian bridges two worlds that rarely intersect: cutting-edge building science and high-performance living.
Drawing from decades of experience in construction, athletic performance, and environmental health, Brian designs homes as integrated living systems—engineered to support circadian rhythm, clean air, pure water, low-toxicity materials, EMF-conscious electrical design, and resilience at every layer of the building envelope. His work unites biohacking principles, building-performance engineering, and wellness-driven architecture into one cohesive methodology.
